E-mail: phillip.luck@gmail.com

Dr. Phillip Luck is a passionate educator who has 13 years of experience in both public and private school settings. His experience includes nine years as a classroom teacher and four years as an administrator. As a certified trainer for the Gurian Institute, Phillip draws upon personal and professional experiences in and out of the classroom to deliver gender-based workshops to educators, parents, and stakeholders to schools.

As a student, Phillip grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Cleveland, Ohio where he struggled in elementary, middle and high school. It was because of his early experiences and struggles in school that Phiilip has always had an exceptional relationship with students, especially boys.

Phillip holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education from Tuskegee University and a Master’s degree in elementary education from The University of Minnesota. Additionally, Phillip holds a Doctorate degree in School Improvement from the University of West Georgia, where his dissertation study focused on educators’ perceptions of the differences between referral rates of boys and girls to special education.

Phillip has served on the Board of Directors for the following organizations: The Center for African-American Male Success, Research and Leadership at the University of West Georgia; Imagine Charter School of Mableton; and Create Your Dreams, Inc., which is a non-profit after-school/summer program for inner-city students.

He lives in Atlanta, Georgia with his wife Leslie and his two children, Jasmine, who is 12 years old and attends an all-girls’ private school and his nine-year son Jordan who is a fourth grade student in the Atlanta Public School system.

During Black History Month in 2011, he invited his students to dress up like their favorite Black History Hero.  One young man came to school, dressed in a suit and tie, and proudly announced that he was dressed as his favorite black hero-- Dr. Phillip Luck.  Aside from feeling old, Dr. Luck was honored that this young man saw him as a hero.  There are dozens of other young people in Atlanta, GA that he has had the same impact on during his fifteen years as an educator.  Click here for details
