Larry has been an educator and businessman for more than 45 years. Serving as a classroom teacher, administrator, dean of students, college professor and through business involvement in several types of training seminars and workshops he brings a lifetime of experiences to the Gurian Institute's educational concerns.

"I have dealt with the nature-nurture questions for many years and have sometimes found myself hanging onto the pendulum by my fingernails! As a listener-observer and sometimes presenter-activist through all of the twists and turns, I have been committed to explore and attempt new understandings as information and critical methodologies evolved. I am particularly energized by The Gurian Institute's efforts to present both their thoughts and those of others involved in scientific exploration of gender differences in learning. I look forward to dialogues with educators who are willing to consider implications for improving educational opportunities and attainments for all of the children we serve. No doubt there will be differences to confront and resolve and perhaps discomfort in the process but I have always thought that Socrates got it right when he suggested that 'An unexamined life is not worth living.'"

Larry is particularly interested in working with young teachers-to-be in colleges and universities. He sees it as both a privilege and necessary penance for having been an educator for some of the educators now choosing to resist growing challenges to extreme dependence on  nurturance, at the expense of natural influences, in the education of children. He is further drawn to consider the critical pre-school and early elementary modifications that might provide for better outcomes in later educational development.

He relishes opportunities for sharing experiences and is committed to the reality of the learning exchange. In these times of substantial educational challenges he subscribes to another historical philosopher who suggested to his galloping gang that "we need to hang together or we may hang separately."
