Karen Boyk - Certified Trainer I retired from public school teaching after more than 36 years, working with students from elementary through high school. Most of my experience was at the middle school level, where for 13 years I had a successful single-sex class for 8th grade girls. I believe in doing what ever we can to help both genders succeed, separately or together. Besides being a Gurian certified trainer, I now work as an Instructional Coach for the State of Michigan, working in high-priority schools. In my coaching role, I continually use the nature-based knowledge from the Gurian Institute to help improve instruction. Michael Gurian’s work has been such a validation for me. Finally those behaviors and attitudes that students display every day in class are scientifically explained! The practical advice and suggestions for parents and teachers alike are extremely helpful. I’m very proud to be part of the Gurian Institute to help others understand the power of nature-based learning. |
