Judy Schaner - Certified Trainer Upon graduating from the State University College in NY at Buffalo in 1983 Judy Schaner earned a dual certification in both general and special education. She began teaching in a special education setting and pursued her master’s degree in learning and behavioral disorders. She currently teaches 5th grade in a general education setting at Windom Elementary in Orchard Park, New York. Judy is a presenter for the district’s Teachers Academy and serves as a trainer for their newly implemented Olweus Anti-Bullying Program. After attending the Gurian Institute twice and years of self-study on the topic of gender-based brain science and its implications on classroom instruction, Judy has experienced a paradigm shift in her approach to teaching. “ This knowledge has truly been an awaking for me and has allowed me to look at my students with fresh eyes. I now understand the “ whys” of their behavior and how to reach each child by designing a classroom environment that fosters optimum success.” Judy’s passion for gender-based learning is evident in her classroom as well as in her presentations. |
