Fun and exciting is how I describe each day in the classroom since training and in-service from the Gurian Institute.  Being involved in (not sitting through) two days of in-service at my school and then training in Colorado Springs at the Gurian Institute totally changed my career and has made a major difference in each student that I teach and coach.

I am currently implementing the gender-based and nature-based teaching strategies in my classroom and it is making major differences for the students I teach.  Please allow your students to benefit from these strategies.  The Gurian Institute research and strategies will change education.

I am a secondary social studies teacher at Hope High School in Hope, Arkansas.   My current classroom assignment is teaching Civics and Pre AP Civics in single gender classes.  I coach varsity football and varsity boys track.  This is my 15th year in education as a teacher and coach.  Throughout my career I have taught Civics, Pre AP Civics, World History, American History, Geography, Economics and Physical Education.  In the coaching realm I have coached Football, Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Baseball, Girls Track and Boys Track as well as served as Athletic Director.

In May, 1992, I received my BSE from Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.   At the time of graduation I had developed my philosophy on education and have followed that philosophy since.  My philosophy is that all students can learn when properly motivated.  It is my professional responsibility to determine what motivates each student.  Gender-based strategies help me understand and determine what motivates each student.

My family consists of my wife, Michaele, and two daughters, Whitney and Courtney.  We run a fireworks store during the summer and Christmas breaks.  The children actively participate in sports and show livestock.
