Afsaneh Fartache, M.S. Ed, is a school counselor and parenting adviser. Afi started her career in education as a school counselor and in school administration, where she was a Site Director for the Head Start program in Westchester, and realized how little she and other educators and parents knew about the differences in behavior and learning between boys and girls.

In continuing her studies, she came across the work of Micheal Gurian and became fascinated by his work. Today Afi is a trainer of the Gurian Institute and her goal is to train and help teachers and parents to learn about young people and provide them with practical strategies to help children succeed.  Afi says that after every training session, “participants feel empowered, positive and in control of how to help children because they learn about the nature of young people and now have the tools to work with them.”

Afi has also worked with families in the capacities of counselor, fundraiser, and consultant with several United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations around the world, including Fiji, Greece, Pakistan, Albania and the United States. She is also on the advisory board at Lehman College Counseling Program.
